6GEM General Assembly 2025: A Glimpse into the Future of 6G Technologies
On June 17–18, 2025, the 6GEM research hub held its 8th General Assembly at the LogistikCampus Dortmund, jointly hosted by TU Dortmund University and Fraunhofer IML. The two-day event brought together researchers, industry representatives, and technology experts to showcase recent advances and explore the future of 6G communication.

The program featured inspiring keynote presentations, an inspiring poster and demo exhibition with over 50 research posters and 25 live demonstrations, as well as an impressive lineup of on-site test field demonstrations, which translated research into tangible scenarios:
- Intralogistics: A 6G edge-cloud enabled Evobot demonstrated highly responsive, autonomous warehouse navigation.
- Mobility: Immersive teleoperation was showcased in a scaled-down automotive and logistics test environment, enhanced by real-time digital twins.
- Production: A testbed featured mmWAVE connectivity in a production-like setup, emphasizing ultra-reliable low-latency communication in industrial settings.
- Rescue Robotics: Robots were operated using real-time control made possible through ROS2-based systems with 6G-capable latency and resilience.
- The agenda also included invited industry talks, offering practical perspectives from the field:
- Christopher Haccius (mira GmbH) discussed the critical role of 6G in enabling safe and responsive teleoperation.
- Jonas Lehmke (IMST GmbH) shared insights on translating 6G research into industrial applications.
Beyond the technology, the event served as a valuable platform for networking and interdisciplinary exchange, underlining 6GEM’s commitment to bridging the gap between research and real-world implementation. The 6GEM General Assembly 2025 clearly demonstrated how 6G technologies are evolving from concept to reality—driving innovation across logistics, mobility, production, and robotics.
